First In Class, Next Generation, Dual Active LLIN, Prequalified by WHO

Royal Guard® is the first commercially available LLIN of its kind that is engineered to provide vector control through both the personal protection of traditional mosquito knockdown and mortality, as well as a reduction in fecundity of any mosquitoes that manage to survive exposure to the products pyrethroid active ingredient. The intended benefit of the insect growth regulator, Pyriproxyfen, is to reduce the fecundity of adult female mosquitoes and therefore yield an overall reduction in the vector population by inhibiting egg laying, larval-pupal transformation and the emergence of functioning young adult mosquitos. 

Royal Guard® is highly effective and does not require re-treatment throughout its useful service life of three or more years. Royal Guard® is made from high-density polyethylene, which gives it superior strength, durability, wash resistance and personal protection for the bed net user. 

Royal Guard® incorporates state of the art master batch technology from Clariant, one of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies.

Royal Guard®Long Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN) Specifications

Disease Control Technologies (DCT) Royal Guard ® LLIN products are manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 accredited facility according to JMPS specification 454+715/LN (2019). This specification results in a strong, durable, wash resistant LLIN that provides ultra high performance and industry leading biological efficacy.

  • Royal Guard® LLINs are made from 100% high density polyethylene (ISO1833: 1977) offering both excellent value and superior performance characteristics.
  • Royal Guard® LLINs contain both a standard pyrethroid insecticide (Alphacypermethrin) and an insect growth regulator (IGR), Pyriproxyfen. Both active ingredients are fully incorporated into the polymer structure of the yarn. This provides a high chemical reservoir that yields industry leading wash retention, storage stability and biological efficacy.
  • Warp-knit fabric construction is an optimal 132 holes per square inch or 20 holes per cm² (ISO 7211/2: 1984) for both superior strength, air flow and personal protection.

  • 150 denier Royal Guard® long-lasting insecticide treated nets are made from a tough 45 grams per square meter (GSM) weight fabric. 120 denier Royal Guard® LLINs are made from a slighty lighter weight 38 GSM fabric that is similarly durable.
  • Royal Guard® brand LLINs are available in both 120 denier and 150 denier versions (ISO 8388: 1998) incorporating technical grade Alphacypermethrin complying with requirements of WHO specification 454/TC (April 2006) and technical grade Pyriproxyfen conmplying with WHO specification 715/TC (April 2017).

DCT's 15 step Total Quality System ensures that all raw materials, work in process, and finished goods meet our industry leading quality assurance standards. Our Total Quality System includes standard quality control procedures, physical testing and chemical analysis for each of the following areas:

  • Incoming raw materials (analytical testing)

  • Masterbatch production (analytical testing)

  • Yarn production (physical and analytical testing)
